Despite it all we had fun....

Once again, we had a Groupon. This time for a tour of a Vineyard and two bottles of Merlot and well as wine tasting with a cheese and cracker platter. We had our babysitter lined up and Jordan was off at a camp out for the Discovery Rangers at church. We slept in that morning and played games with Sydney. About 5 minutes before we were going to leave, a client called me. She wanted to set up an appointment so I went to my computer. Thankfully I did because I saw I had a message on Facebook. It was my babysitter. Apparently some family thing had come up and she couldn't watch Sydney. After my initial, "why in the world didn't she call" (it turns out she couldn't find my number...she had looked but didn't have it anywhere), I realized that we had five minutes before we were supposed to leave. The first gal I called reminded me that they were having her family birthday party that evening and we really didn't want Sydney to crash their party. The second one was at the hospital with her dad. Finally, after several calls we found someone that could watch her. However, we had to drive her to their house and we were already late leaving our house. We figured even if we didn't get the wine tour, we'd get the wine tasting, cheese and crackers and the bottles of wine and maybe they'd let us just walk around and see the place. Amazingly there was hardly any traffic and it looked like we might get there on time. I had printed out the directions and it was looking great. However, the directions lead us to the wrong place. Once we realized that, we quickly called them and found out we had 8 more miles to go. Well...we knew it would be cutting it really close, but better than what we had originally imagined. We pulled into the vineyard at exactly 1:30...when the tour was going to start. We ran in and were there maybe 2 or 3 minutes and they called for the start of the tour. We made it on time! We were so happy to have made it. The tour was really cool. It's a Wisconsin vineyard that does Californian wine. They gave us the history of how the place came to be and then talked about the wines. They make over 100,000 bottles a year. They talked about how they did the different wines, showed us how they bottle them and brought us into the "cellar" with all the wine barrels. Right as the tour guide was talking, a lady fainted, hit her head on a ladder and then proceeded to have a seizure. They ushered us out of there and called 911. The poor lady was taken to the hospital. We went out and got our cheese and crackers and started the wine tasting. They had a list of all the wines they were offering for the tasting. We picked one we thought we both might like. It was a sweeter red wine. When we tried it, it was bubbly and had a punch to it. When we asked about it, her eyes got big and she said, "That wine might not be good." Sure enough, for the first time ever we had one of the 3% of wine that doesn't seal correctly. It was very fitting for the day we were having. However, despite all of the set backs and strange things that happened, we had a blast the entire time (except feeling bad for the poor lady on our tour). We found some wine we both loved. That is very unusual because we like very different wines. We also found a ginger mango cheese that was AMAZING! After the tasting, we went and had a delicious Mexican meal and laughed about everything that should've/could've wrecked our day but didn't!
