Arlie's 34th Birthday

Jordan had his first day of Mad Science camp (unfortunately it stared today and was only 4 days so we didn't want him to skip it), so Arlie slept in while he went to that, then hung out with Sydney and I while having a nice relaxing morning at home. When Jordan got home, Arlie opened his birthday gifts. The kids LOVE giving him gifts and watching him open them up. Jordan got Arlie a knife (like always) for his knife collection.

Sydney picked out clothes for him (which she loves to do) and once you get old you get great gifts from your spouse like....a weed whacker :) No longer fun stuff, you graduate to practical stuff. At least he looks like he's happy to get it!

Arlie got to pick what he wanted for lunch, so we decided on a really late lunch at Famous Dave's BBQ. The kids, of course, had to tell the waiter that it was dad's birthday. They gave him this HUGE dessert with a sparkler in it. The kids thought that was pretty cool.

We wanted to do something that the kids would enjoy, so even though it was cool and cloudy out, we decided to go to Bunker Beach Water Park.

When we first got there, it was so cold that I laid out on the chairs in long sleeves. But God was watching down on us and within 30minutes of us getting there, the whole sky cleared up and it became sunny and hot! There was hardly anyone there since it had been so cold, so we pretty much had the run of the place.

Arlie and I read books while the kids played and then once it got warmer, we joined it. They have a fabulous wave pool....well...it was fabulous until daddy accidentally took them out at just the wrong spot and tube flipped and scared both of the kids. Then the wave pool wasn't near as cool.

Sydney was about 2 inches too short to go on the big slides so we enjoyed going around the lazy river while the boys raced down the slides.

This year they added a climbing wall and the lazy river. Arlie and Jordan got to try that out. Sydney and I just watched and laughed as they fell off :) Arlie makes everything so much fun. He's so great at playing with the kids, especially at water parks! I think he passed on his enjoyment of the water to our kids. I love the water too...being by the water anyway :)
